FOR FREE HANDS was previously booked for the <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/teZTA6eJAAw\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jazz au Chellah<\/a> festival in Morocco, with the request to realize a project with the Moroccan oud virtuoso <a href=\"https:\/\/alaazouiten.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alaa Zouiten<\/a>. The concert in front of 2,000 people was so successful that we decided to further develop our musical encounter. In 1995 we (Hans Hartmann, Andreas Brunn &amp; the US drummer Ned Irving) played the first concerts. Hans Hartmann died in 2022 and we wanted to remember him with his music. Diverse, colorful, groovy, casual &#8211; the five musicians from five countries offer catchy, urban jazz with a good portion of oriental ingredients.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, our FFH CD &#8220;The passing on of the fire&#8221; was CD of the week at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jazz-fun.de\/for-free-hands-feat-alaa-zouiten-the-passing-on-of-the-fire.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">jazz-fun.de<\/a> in October: &#8220;In a work peppered with fresh material, Andreas Brunn uses a wide instrumental arsenal. The result is a great album on the borderline between jazz and fusion with jazz-rock excursions. I like the guitarist&#8217;s nimble solos in conjunction with the saxophone, which is supported by Alaa Zouiten&#8217;s oud. Diego Pinera&#8217;s passionate drumming also gives the whole thing energy and agility.
